24-megapixel Leica SL
Zeiss ZM 35mm f/1.4 Distagon

Aperture Series: DeChambeau Weathered Barn (Leica SL)

This full-range scene looks at sharpness with a straight-on view of an old barn with extremely fine wood detail.

DeChambeau Weathered Barn

Adobe Camera Raw 9.6.1 (631). ACR settings. Camera Profile = Embedded.

No camera lens correction used, so this is native performance on the Leica SL.

Sharpness at f/1.4 is very good. Wide open, some areas seem soft, but examining them at f/5.6 shows that moiré develops and that the softness is probably due in good measure to the limits of the sensor and its Bayer matrix. In other areas, there may be some very mild field curvature that affects sharpness, nor is there any guarantee that f/1.4 is optimally focused, thought it appears to be so at center.
