24-megapixel Leica SL
Zeiss ZM 35mm f/1.4 Distagon

Aperture Series: Rocky Wash, Last Light of the Day (Leica SL)

This shot captures the simple elegance of the very high mountains as a last stray patch of sunlight wanders across the white rocks of the White Mountains near sunset. Elevation is around 11,500'. Bristlecone pines do not grow in these valleys this high, but they do grow on nearby slopes.

The rendering style of the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Distagon at distance at f/1.4 and f/2 is highly appealing, the vignetting being an attractive feature.

Glowing Bristlecone, close range

Adobe Camera Raw 9.6.1 (631). ACR settings. Camera Profile = Embedded. Diffraction mitigation sharpening used for f/11.
