Veiling Flare ZM 35/2: Shaded and Unshaded
On Leica M Type 240. No filter was used and the lens shade was attached.
The goal here was to maximize flare: the camera was placed on a tripod, then was rotated and angled in order to achieve the visibly worst case flare without having the sun directly in the frame (it is not necessarily worse to include the sun and might actually be better, but this was not the goal).
Two images were taken at f/11 with the lens focused at infinity: one unshaded and one with the front of the lens shaded from strafing non-image-forming light (the sun).

The shading of the front element by the lens hood does not change with focus (distance between the front glass and lens shade is unaffected by focusing).
