Leica MM vs Nikon D800E (35mm, Pine Creek Tungsten Mine)

In the dolls comparison, it was found that the 36-megapixel Nikon D800E (May 2012 release) could outperform the Leica MM as a black and white imager in a controlled test with a top-grade lens.

In the field, the results accrue to the sensor and lens combination, including the resolving power, the dynamic range, the ability to focus accurately under challenging conditions, the optical performance.
