Leica M10 White Balance / Tint in Sunlight, Photoshop + Adobe Camera Raw
Findings based on firmware 1.3.4.0.
Nailing down a baseline white balance and tint is in my experience 90% of the solution for making images look good. If the tint is off, things quickly look awful (green or magenta casts are rarely pleasing). When the white balance is off, it might be more or less pleasing, depending on the subject matter— neutralizing the friendly warmth of a sunset or dusk scene is a non-goal, as is warming up the frosty blue of a shaded canyon.
This page looks at the white balance and tint parameters needed for the Leica M10 using Photoshop Adobe Camera Raw 9.10.1.750. See a similar evaluation for the Leica M240 done some years prior. As with the M240 and many if not all cameras, the tint required for neutrality with the M10 varies with brightness—dark areas tend to go bluish, and in general the grayscale is not entirely linear.
