The Leica 50mm f/2 APO-Summicron-M ASPH is perhaps the most highly corrected lens in the Leica M lineup. But that does mean that it offers perfection.

Thus in the context of “best”, it is instructive to examine color correction and blur qualities with four lenses together, leading to useful insights into performance, particularly in the f/4 to f/8 range with respect to its Leica M siblings and the far less expensive Zeiss ZM 50mm f/2 Planar. What one pays for is often the first stop or two, and after that well designed lenses tend to converge; none of these lenses are slouches in the performance department, but they do draw in distinct ways.
