Leica 75mm f/2 APO-Summicron-M ASPH

Examples: 75/2 APO (Portraits)

Three portrait examples are shown to demonstrate just how critical focus accuracy and depth of field are with the Leica M9’s high resolution sensor, which is capable of extracting tremendous detail on a per-pixel basis, due to the lack of an anti-aliasing filter.

Color rendition as seen here is exceptionally rich and pleasing, showing that the M9 is capable of outstanding images. Black and white renditions are also striking. The quality reminds me of that from medium format digital backs, perhaps it is the influence of using a CCD sensor instead of a CMOS sensor, along with not anti-aliasing filter.

The quality of the Leica 75/2 APO-Summicron-M ASPH no doubt has a lot to do with the color rendition here; the exotic optical glass produces richly saturated unadulterated color. It certainly looks like 30-40 megapixels would hardly be a strain for it.
