Fujifilm GFX100S: Focus Precision and Accuracy with Fujifilm GF 50mm f/3.5

This page builds upon the results seen with the Fujifilm GF 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6 with a lens 1+ stop faster/brighter, the Fujifilm GF 50mm f/3.5. Please read that page FIRST for test setup and most commentary.

The purpose of this page is to show that the results seen with the 35-70mm zoom are in fact inherent to what one can expect from the Fujifilm GFX100S autofocus system—stilted precision and accuracy. While the results seen here with the 50/3.5 are a little better, the identical autofocus precision and accuracy shortcomings are seen with two cameras (same lens), proving that the behavior is not camera-specific, not a “bad camera”. Indeed, the 2nd camera is one with which its owner has been pleased with AF performance while photographing people (albeit with Eye AF).
