Hasselblad X1D

Example with Rich Color, Dark Tones, Mixed Lighting: Flowers at Russian Ridge

This example is “just for looking”, not a technical analysis. What strikes me is the ability of the Hasselblad X1D sensor to record a wide dynamic range with rich color and contrast under mixed 6500°K skylight sidelighting mixed with 3200° Solux (halogen) lighting, which is very red, like all halogen lighting. For this image, the bluish sidelighting helped balance out that red.

I bracketed this shot, finding that the Hasselblad X1D offers misleading histograms as to how much dynamic range is actually available. As it turns out, my +1.3 stop shot still had just a smidgen of dynamic range left, perhaps 1/3 of a stop. The key thing with the X1D seems to be to push the ETTR exposure all the way right—stacked/piled up is OK so long as there is not a spike at far right.
