This page analyzes the Nikon D3x vs the Leica S2 image sharpness using the RAW Developer 1.8.10 converter from Iridient Digital, in particular using its R-L Deconvolution sharpening.
A center crop at the optimal aperture of f/5.6 is used (only), because the goal here is to assess the peak potential sharpness of the cameras.
Deconvolution sharpening to counteract the anti-aliasing filter
RAW Developer is one of the few RAW converters to offer explicit deconvolution sharpening, capable of counteracting much of the blur created by the anti-aliasing (blur) filter present in the Nikon D3x.
