This image shows how incredibly limited the depth of field is even at f/11. Part of this is lens performance—less than ideal real depth of field, but the primary factor is a a fundamentally restricted depth of field even ~40 feet / 12 meters out.

Note that even at f/11 it’s not possible to make even the leading group of trees sharp together and these have a separation of perhaps 10 feet / 3 meters. Focus stacking could be used, but if the trees are moving from wind, it’s hopeless.
