Introduction to Canon EOS R5
The about $3899 Canon EOS R5is Canon’s high-resolution full-frame mirrorless camera as of mid 2020, coming in at a price about 50% higher than the 30MP Canon EOS R which preceded it nearly two years earlier.
Imaging quality should be very high, but the 45MP sensor does not achieve parity with the 60MP Sony A7R IV, and only matches Sony, and Nikon and other brands which have been at 45MP for ~2 years already. Still, while Canon is late to the party in resolution terms, the 8K video alone may endear it to videographers—an extremely low price point for 8K and indeed a first among 35mm cameras.
