Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM

Distortion and Distortion Correction

This page shows distortion examples with the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM at various focal lengths.

When evaluating the images/crop on a Retina display at 220 ppi, it will be harder to see differences. Think of this as a small print. When evaluating on a lower-ppi display like the 110 ppi NEC PA302W, the rubber meets the road as to what a large print would be like. See also pixel density.

Distortion @ 24mm

Mild barrel distortion dominates at 24mm (with variation, more than simple barrel distortion perhaps). It is low enough that it can remain uncorrected for most landscape subjects, but architecture and portraiture and horizons should probably use distortion correction.
