The about $2299 Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM is an all-new optical design for the Canon EOS R mirrorless system. It promises exceptional image quality, at least if price is any guide.

At about 2 lb / 900g, the 24-70/2.8 is moderately heavy and even a little heavier than the 805g Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II but it also has image stabilization unlike of its DSLR cousins. The image stabilization works in conjunction with the IBIS of the Canon EOS R5 for up to 8 stops of stabilization, according to Canon.
