MTF for Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L
With the debut of the Canon EOS R system, Canon continues to publish the same inadequate 10 and 30 lp/mm MTF charts it has for years, and for only one aperture (wide open) and without specifying spectral balance or focusing distance (presumably infinity). Net/net the MTF chart offers limited insight versus charts from Zeiss with white light made measured from actual lenses. Still, the chart is suggestive of performance at 40 lp/mm and beyond.
The MTF chart for the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L shows outstanding contrast for coarse and fine structures wide-open. The total effect should be rewarding. This looks to be Zeiss Otus grade performance at 1/2 stop faster—actually better, at least on paper.
