This page applies to output TIF files from Adobe Camera RAW. The effect is not seen with SilkyPix, but that would be expected given the low level of fine detail it produces which essentially blurs out all fine detail.
The X-Pro1 images derived from the unusual semi-random sensor design exhibit what I’ll term fine-detail fracturing— it’s as if smooth lines are fractured just slightly, leading to an outlining/etching effect.
This effect is not apparent in continuously detailed areas (see the Food and Flowers page), but it breaks up smooth lines and tends to produce an etched looked around finer details. The effect is visible with a few of the flower shots (e.g. orange petals against green background).
