Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S

Overview of Distortion for Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S

Nikon sets a “distortion correction required” flag in the EXIF for images with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S under artificial night lighting.

Tip: to frame accurately when shooting, make sure Camera => Auto distortion control = ON.

Distortion correction guarantees a loss of sharpness in some areas of the image, because some of the pixels in the frame must be stretched apart. A lens with distortion correction required can never deliver full sensor resolution in the negatively impacted areas (Multi-Shot High-Res mode mitigates the issue, but Nikon does not offer it).
