iPhone 6s Plus: General Discussion

I began experimenting with iPhone 6s Plus panoramas in late 2015. A casual and somewhat uninterested endeavor at first, it grew on me as an exceedingly fast and simple way to get a wide field of view with reasonably good quality.

The iPhone 6s Plus succeeds not by its still-photo pixel quality (which on a per-pixel basis varies from atrociously bad to mediocre in real world situations), but by an enjoyable experience in making a panorama. Coupled with the large Retina screen, the viewing experience is vastly superior to any conventional camera rear LCD or EVF. It’s a killer combination for any hiker or backpacker. While non-panorama iPhone 6s Plus still photo can be reasonably good, they are generally of garbage quality when shot in dim light. The panorama shooting approach sidesteps pixel quality by recording many more pixels.
