Ricoh GR Lens MTF Analysis

Ricoh deserves partial credit for providing semi-fantasy MTF charts, what Ricoh calls “Diffraction MTF” charts: so many MTF charts (Nikon, Canon, Sony, etc) do not take diffraction into account (in short, computed fantasy charts having no relation to reality).

Ricoh also deserve praises for stating that the results are calculated (not measured). While measurement of real lenses is preferable (since real lenses have to be built and are never perfect), stating the approach is at least honest and credible.

Kudos to Ricoh on both these points, as well as spelling out the distance (1 meter).

Analysis

The MTF is shown for focus at one meter; performance likely varies at closer range, and it might vary slightly at infinity focus also.
