Sigma supplies MTF only for f/1.4 and only at 10 and 30 line pairs per millimeter, which is odd in the year 2019 where digital cameras like the Sony A7R IV hit 130 lp/mm. Zeiss uses 10/20/40 lp/mm, which is far better, but still low compared to camera requirements. Setting that aside, the MTF looks fabulous, though it is lower at f/1.4 than the MTF of the Sigma 40mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art—28mm is a more challenging focal length than 40mm.
Field curvature and astigmatism wide open at f/1.4 appear to be tightly controlled, with performance dropping off gracefully.
