3-Way Shootout: Crooked Creek Canyon View to White Mountain Peak

This 3-way shootout assesses three top 85mm lenses on the Sony A7R IV for sharpness across the frame and near to far, focus shift, field curvature, color correction and distortion.

With Sigma claiming de facto top honors in its marketing/sales pitch, what’s the performance reality at wider apertures, and stopped down a few stops?

Comparing lenses on a 60MP camera is challenging—even just matching focus is all but impossible in the field (forgetting about field curvature and focus shift and other oddball behaviors!)—it’s about the zone of focus, not matching a very small area. But I took considerable care, and all three lenses have focus landing where intended (far distance) but other factors dominate. The commentary takes such things into account.
