Sigma dp2 Quattro

Examples: Portraits Handheld

dp2 Quattro X3F converted with Sigma Photo Pro 6.0.1 32-bit, June 2014.

Lacking an EVF, the dp2 Quattro must be held at arm’s length to shoot. This presents a serious challenge to obtaining sharp images when the light gets low such as at dusk, your author’s favorite time to shoot.

For this series, I wished to see the camera at ISO 100 rather than raise ISO for higher shutter speed. This led to a high failure rate as per the above discussion.

General comments

At f/2.8 the lens is superb. Depth of field is strictly limited at f/2.8, just as with a full-frame DSLR (format equivalent aperture is f/4). It’s critical to nail focus on the iris of the eye for the full visual impact made possible by the lens and sensor.
