Pixel Shift Examples, Good and Bad Processed from DNG in Adobe Camera Raw

This page shows examples using Sony pixel shift with good results and with problematic results, e.g., checkerboarding.

All images processed in Adobe Camera Raw from DNG output from a converter that takes the 4 input files and makes a DNG.

This page is a work in progress—more examples to be added now that I have a tool I can use to make DNG for Adobe Camera Raw.

Example — Newspapers

This is an ideal usage for pixel shift: extremely fine detail, metal texture, some dew on the metal, degraded plastics in the newsstand doors, pavement detail, etc. In those areas, pixel shift is a major win—read the news in The Daily Post for example—the type is readable with zero Bayer artifacts(zoom in). This is what one wishes for with pixel shift.
