Subject separation and sharpness, f/1.8 vs 4/4

This pair of images shows us a lot about the lens performance.

F/1.8 even at distance still shows subject separation: the roof is sharp the far trees above it are slightly soft, and everything until near the house is also out of focus. A 14mm at f/1.8 has extremely limited DoF even at distance.
