Aperture Series: Train Boxcar, Oblique View
This aperture series serves two purposes
First, it demonstrates the sharpness limitations of the Venus Optics for the Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D.
Second, it shows that zero or near-zero optical distortion coupled with leveling the camera can produce an image in which the only “distortion” is so-called perspective distortion*, which is not distortion at all, but rather the inverse square law of light, gravity, etc.
* Perspective distortion has nothing to do with focal length, being dependent only on the distance of the entrance pupil of the lens to the subject matter. In other words, a 400mm lens and a 15mm lens have exactly the same perspective at the same distance, though obviously the 400mm image would be greatly magnified, hence the confusion about perspective by most photographers.
