Sony NEX-7

Usability Issue — Unwanted ISO Changes

The Sony NEX control dial requires almost zero effort to be twiddled, and thus continually switched ISO without me being aware of it.

The same is true of exposure compensation: the camera changes settings seemingly on its own (feather light dials), and so one has to pay attention constantly. It is a poor design for serioius shooting and has ruined quite a few photos in usage scenarios where one can’t be watching such things; I like to set the camera and shoot it, concentrating on composition, not on camera behavior.

Initially (until I learned the fix, see below), I had to re-shoot many times. I don’t RTFCM* with cameras; a well designed camera should never need reading a manual for any kind of normal operation.
