Tested with the Sony RX1 in August 2012 (not the RX1R from August 2013).
Winter lighting on this scene is often difficult; very flat low contrast lighting, yet the tiles tend to be bright, a severe challenge to any sensor.
This scene is brutally demanding for lens flaws: anything less than perfection shows up as asymmetric sharpness. Aligning the camera means sighting down the line of bricks and centering on the two pink flowers at center; there can be no question as to squared-up camera alignment.
The camera was angled up slightly, so assuming perfect focus on the pink flowers, one can expect a slight sharpness falloff to the top and in the foreground; this is useful in detecting minor focus errors.
