Exposing for Highest Dynamic Range and Lowest Noise
The Sony RX100 consistently underexposes by 1/2 to 1 stop, particularly when cloudy sky is involved.
The underexposure is well worth compensating for given its outstanding dynamic range and relatively high noise; nearly all of the examples could have accepted 0.5 to 1.5 stops more exposure, which would have reduced the noise.
Dialing in +2/3 stop would have forced the camera to make better exposures, and in RAW (ARW) this would have carried very little risk of blowing out detail with any of the cloudy-day images.
On sunny days or days with bright highlights, dialing in extra exposure might be a mistake, some experimentation is in order for various lighting conditions.
