Sony A7R (36 megapixels)
Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 Sonnar

Examples: Spring Snowstorm (Sony A7R)

This is a narrative and story more than a lens evaluation; the images speak for themselves as to the technical excellence and visual impact.

Like the Batis 25mm f/2, the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 is weather resistant, and just as critical in rain or snow shooting, its lens hood extends far enough so that with a little care the front lens surface will stay free of water spots. Shoot the scene, then carry the camera with the lens angled down to avoid ingress of rain/snow.

The narrative begins with the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 Approaching Spring snowstorm examples.

In a matter of minutes, clouds raced in from the distance to envelop everything in a shroud of fog. Visibility dropped to 30 meters, perhaps 100 meters for soft shapes to be vaguely discerned. Yet there was little wind and the silence was intense. Still, the croaking frogs in Froggy Pond nearby did not get the hint until the pellet snow began to fall.
