Aperture Series: Approaching Storm Over Lake (Sony A7R)

This simple dual aperture series shows lens performance and depth of field on a deep near to far scene at f/2 and f/13.

Approaching Storm Over Lake, Hoover Wilderness

This storm moved in rather quickly and spattered your author with biting bits of icy snow. But it ended up doing little more than bluster. Still, being alone in a remote area has its risks when a storm approaches, so a partial retreat at dusk was in order; this shot taken about half way “home”.

At f/2 there is a veiling purple haze (see stump crop), which lowers the contrast on fine details. This kind of haze does not exist with its sibling the fabulous Zeiss ZM 35mm f/1.4 Distagon (not available in Loxia design as of this writing, but one can hope). The haze cleans up at f/2.8 (not shown).
