The Zeiss Loxia 50mm f/2 optical design is symmetric which tends to cancel out certain aberrations. Its almost circular 9-bladed aperture makes for for especially harmonious rendition of highlights outside of the focal plane, according to Zeiss—in practice, this is true, but marred somewhat by secondary color errors.
