More than APS-C Coverage? (Sony A7R, Rose)

The Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 Distagon is designed for cameras with an APS-C sensor. However, testing shows that the 12/2.8 projects an image circle of sufficient size to be useful for a notably larger field of view when used on a full frame camera like the Sony A7 or Sony A7R (well beyond its ostensible APS-C coverage).
