Example: Dual Not-Quite-Enough Examples (Bristlecones Near to Far)

A week of waiting for a “wow” sunrise, and clear blue sky reigned—tough to make the desired image: the sun rises with alacrity in June, and the beautiful snow melts very quickly. Still, this is the natural warm color of early morning, no saturation added. My regret here is the lack of a sense of scale, but it was very difficult navigating the very steep loose slope, so options were limited.

Here I wanted to capture the fine detail in the wood grain, which made me wish for the Pentax K1 SuperRes pixel shift mode, sadly not available on the Nikon D810. This scene is tricky, what with the root at bottom right of the frame very near the camera and the spread of the tree here approaching 3 meters, all while leaning steeply backwards. No way can even f/13 deal with this (and where to focus?), but focus stacking can.
