Nikon MTF Examples

Examples on this page are from Nikon lenses. Nikon supplies only one low resolution MTF chart per lens on its Japanese site (not USA), and only for wide-open performance.

Note that Nikon MTF charts are for 10 and 30 line pairs per millimeter. Realize that 30 lp/mm is notably less demanding than the 40 lp/mm of the Zeiss or Leica graphs, and so should not be compared directly. But they can be compared to Canon charts for the wide open line pair.

Example — Nikon 24mm f/1.4G (and 14-24mm f/2.8G)

Amazingly, some consumer zooms cannot achieve this level of performance at f/5.6.
