This extremely detailed scene demonstrates the jaw-dropping resolving power of the Zeiss 135mm f/2 APO-Sonnar under field conditions at distance. Yet at 50 megapixels, even minor deviations are readily seen, so this series is highly instructive on the limits of the very best lenses available.

Few lenses can deliver the resolution and micro contrast recorded in this image, which makes one wish for a 100-megapixel sensor. As this was written in early 2016, the limit for 35mm was still 50 megapixels on the Canon 5DS R. While 100 megapixels would surely show modest gains, the results show clear potential for significantly more detail than 50 megapixels can record.
