Compared to Nikon 135mm f/2 DC (D800E, Rulers on Table)

As with the house shot, this comparison was designed as a follow-up to confirm the D800E sensor alignment issue (same Nikon D800E body, the issue is confusing by its apparent absence).

But it turns out that the setup reveals the profoundly superior color correction and clarity of the Zeiss 135mm f/2 APO-Sonnar that it bears showing for this purpose alone.

This scene shows no asymmetry as seen with the distance evaluation (it was shot a 2nd time also in a critical and careful fashion— no asymmetry found).

Test scene

The camera was sighted down the center of the projecting carpenter’s square with the metal ruler squared to that. It’s as close to perfectly centered as could be determined under the conditions.
