Carl Zeiss ZF.2 18mm f/3.5 Distagon T*

Resolution Chart

Unlike the ZF 28/2 [reschart] and 25/2.8 Distagon [reschart], the ZF 18mm f/3.5 maintains a reasonably flat field even at very close focusing distances, in this example, only about 20 inches (50cm) from the test target. For a comparison of field curvature see the discussion on the 28/2 Distagon page.

How will the ZF 18/3.5 Distagon be used? The traditional approach for a wide angle is to “get it all in” meaning panoramic landscape views or capturing cramped spaces, etc. However, it also means the emphasis of near/far relationships, the latter usage being the most typical one to which I would put the ZF 18/3.5 Distagon. That means getting really close with some subjects and so testing at close range (as with this resolution chart) is actually highly relevant to my shooting style.
