Zeiss ZF.2 21mm f/2.8 Distagon T*

MTF Chart

The 21/2.8 Distagon shows exceptionally high MTF for a wide-angle lens; it is exceptionally well corrected.

In fact, the 21/2.8 Distagon is likely very close to being diffraction-limited in the central area wide open at f/2.8, or more precisely its performance in the central area drops when stopped down to f/5.6. It truly is one of the best 21mm designs ever produced, and it should be in your bag if you like an ultra-wide. However, beware even small sensor-to-lens-mount misalignment issues, because a precision 21mm lens is extremely sensitive to less than perfect camera alignment. Always avoid stressing the lens mount (eg an unsupported heavy telephoto lens).
