This scene provides left/right and fore/aft perspectives to see how these lenses perform in the real world. The same scene was compared with the EOS 5D Mark II.
The 24-megapixel Nikon D3x was used. Live View was used for focus, with mirror lockup and a remote release to ensure camera stability.
Camera orientation
The camera and tripod were locked down; lenses were shot with no movement of the camera. Focus was at the large fern, approximately 1/3 from left. This shot offers a lot of depth to evaluate image quality fore/aft and left/right. The plane of focus runs from the large fern to the group of rocks at lower right.
