Zeiss Milvus 25mm f/1.4

MTF for Milvus 25/1.4

Overall, Zeiss appears to have taken a similar design approach as with the Milvus 35mm f/1.4: a well-balanced design that strives for excellent overall performance at f/1.4, with reference-setting performance stopped down a bit.

Compared to the Milvus 35/1.4, the 25/1.4 delivers higher peak contrast and higher contrast for coarse and medium structures; high overall contrast adds a “pop” to images that I find highly appealing; see Micro Contrast and the Zeiss 'Pop'.

MTF is high in the center at f/1.4 but rolls off quickly to lower levels, which is most likely some field curvature and a design compromise for consistent performance across the frame, an approach that the Milvus 35/1.4 proves out as having considerable appeal.
