Flare vs 50/2 Makro-Planar
Lens tested here was a prototype 55/1.4 APO-Distagon.
From personal experience, all 50mm lenses have serious trouble with flare when shot with the sun somewhere at the edge of the frame, or just outside of it.
The two images here were composed to generate the most visible flare possible for both lenses under the same conditions. This does not mean the same framing; the camera was oriented to show both lenses at their worse.
Both lenses were focused on the same position and both were shot at f/8.
