Focus Shift at '56 Megapixels' (Nikon D7100, Dolls)
This study follows the focus shift study with focus bracketing using the 36-megapixel full-frame Nikon D800E.
This study uses the 24-megapixel Nikon D7100 (March 2013 release) whose pixel density is equivalent to that of a 56-megapixel full-frame sensor. The D7100 sensor omits the optical low pass filter (anti-aliasing filter) so that lens performance is generally unimpaired as seen by the sensor.
The behavior seen here yields insight into achievable results on a 56-megapixel full-frame camera.
Lens tested here was a prototype lens, but performance would not be expected to change with production lenses.
