Resolution Chart
The Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 Planar is not well corrected for close-up focus and so this test (like the other resolution chart tests) was shot at a reproduction ratio of approximately 1:37, close enough to infinity to be more than fair to the Planar. Real world portraits, etc might be done at a reproduction ratio closer to 1:25 or 1:20 or even 1:10; the Planar likely would fare less well under those circumstances.
No attempt was made to compensate for focus shift when making these comparisons. For that reason, the results shown for the 85mm Planar are likely a worse case scenario.
