Moderate barrel distortion is seen, impressively low for a lens of this speed covering a 44 X 33mm sensor.
Distortion correction shows noticeable losses to sharpness and micro contrast; see the crops. Therefore, unless correction is needed for the particular subject, it is best avoided. Subject that could benefit would include groups of people, architecture, flat horizons, but just about everything else need not bother.
