Fujifilm GFX100: Making of a Handheld Panorama with IBIS at 1/10 Second: Earth Shadow From Above Barcroft

This page discusses the making of a 137-megapixel panorama from two frames shot at 1/10 second using Fujifilm GFX100 in-body-image-stabilization (IBIS) with the Fujifilm GF 45mm f/2.8.

Image presented at sizes up to 137 megapixels.

Earth Shadow Rising over Barcroft Research Facility

For this panorama, I shot two frames for the left side, and two frames for the right side. In both cases, one frame prove slightly unsharp and the other frame sharp; the sharp frames were used. In general, I found that down to about 1/10 second, the Fujifilm GFX100 IBIS did a fantastic job. Earlier, shooting 2 or 3 frames at speeds down to 1/10 second usually resulted in at least one tack-sharp image with the Fujifilm GF 45mm f/2.8, my all-arounder lens of choice. That’s an unprecedented win for medium format.
