Nikon Z8
Nikon NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S

Aperture Series @ 70mm: Eastern Sierra Mixed Forest (Z8)

This series evaluates the Nikon NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S at 70mm from f/2.8 to f/11 on a near-to-far landscape. This scene is typical of the sharpness and depth of field challenges when working outdoors.

It is perhaps unusual to press a 70-200mm zoom into service at this range, given limits on depth of field, but the automated focus stacking (“focus shift”) feature works so well on the Nikon Z8 that the series includes a 4-frame focus stack at f/8 using Zerene Stacker, to offer a definitive look at the sharpness potential of the lens across the frame and into the corners.
