The 6048 size is 24 megapixels, which is 68% of the linear resolution of the 8688 X 5792 Canon 5DS R originals. Some images can be toggled for a black and white version. Images look spectacular on an UltraHD display, and particularly stunning on the 14.2-megapixel retina display of the iMac 5K.

Adobe Camera Raw 9.2 (486) in Photoshop CC 2015. In a few cases, chroma noise reduction was used; this is noted. Some images use contrast control, also noted.

Aspen medley with snow

In a sense, it took years for this photo to come together; it’s really difficult to compose a medley of small trees in a compelling way, and never has it worked so well for me, let alone have the snow to make it special. There are even beautifully subtle details to be seen, such as streaks of falling snow visible against the darker tones.
