This aperture series shows that even at moderate distance (2 meters or so), with a 14mm lens even f/13 is far from sufficient for depth of field, as proven by the 3-frame focus stack at f/6.3.

That modern high-res digital cameras all but demand focus stacking for this kind of scene should be self evident upon viewing.
