Sony A7R V: Sony Botches Focus Stacking inMultiple Ways  — Precludes Pixel Shift, Frame Averaging, etc

re: Sony pixel shift

Few things are more frustrating than getting “pretty good” delivered when true excellence is low-hanging fruit all but picking itself.

As the latest example, there is no provision for pixel shift captures in combination with focus bracketing for focus stacking. That’s a nuisance on top of an obvious bug in focus bracketing.

Panasonic has no such issue with the Panasonic S1R multi-shot high-res mode (8 frames!). How hard is it to copy a good idea and run with it?

Other botched features

These botched features can all be fixed with firmware upgrades, but will Sony fix them?

Isn’t it weird that Sony has no team to reach out to folks like me, ask what they can do to make it better, and fix such things? I mean, some things help everyone and disadvantage no one, and at no cost in complexity or design. I don’t get it. Even more weird is not making sure all such things are taken care of before shipping the product.
