Fujifilm Locks Down Medium Format Market with Fujifilm GFX100 II, Fujifilm GF 30/5.6 TS, Fujifilm GF 110/5.6 TS
Unassailable market position for Fujifilm?
Specialty use cases exist, but Fujifilm now has the most versatile and portable/usable medium format system on the market. At a price that working pros can afford.
Any late entrant (Sony, Nikon, Leica, Canon) would have years of catching-up in a small market with market size alone making such an effort highly unlikely. Hasselblad moves at a glacial pace. Game over? Seems so.
The two new T/S (tilt/shift) lenses are major advances for medium format. And I am especially pleased to seee the inclusions of a tripod mounting ring for the lens (albeit unstable as jello), which means you can do parallax-free stitching up to 168 megapixels with both the 30mm and 110mm. Nice!
